Visa-free countries: Maltese passport holders can travel to 184 countries without a visa.
Investment Type: Non-refundable investment + property purchase or lease + charitable donation.
Investment costs: To obtain Maltese citizenship you need: a non-refundable investment of €750,000 after one year or €600,000 after three years, €700,000 in real estate or €16,000 in annual property rent for five years, €10,000 in charitable donations, and €50,000 for each additional dependent.
Family Dependents: Spouse, unmarried and financially dependent children under 28, and dependent parents and grandparents over 55.
Passport Validity: Maltese passports are valid for ten (10) years for adults and minors.

Due Diligence and Background Checks

The government appoints a preferred due diligence agency which conducts checks using different international and local sources such as Interpol, World-Check and other government entities.
As part of the process, applicants must submit documents such as their passports, birth certificates and bank statements, and the agency thoroughly checks each applicant’s past to ensure they are of good character and do not pose a threat to Malta’s security.
